Project Details
The Government of Bangladesh (GoB) is planning to install additional Gas / Regasified Liquified Natural Gas (RLNG) fuel fired gas turbine - steam turbine based combined cycle power plants to meet the demand forecast as mentioned in the Power System Master Plan 2016, to improve energy efficiency, ensure fuel diversity and increase power generation capacity of Bangladesh.
In view of this United Enterprises & Co. Ltd. (UECL) has been awarded a project to develop (through a special purpose vehicle) a 590 MW Gas / RLNG fired Combined Cycle Power Plant at Anwara, Chattogram, Bangladesh. One of the requirements of initiating the implementation of the project is to obtain a Site Clearance Certificate, prior to start of construction of the project, followed by an Environmental Clearance Certificate, prior to start of operation of the project, from the Department of Environment (DoE) under the Ministry of Environment and Forest of the Government of Bangladesh.
